SOUFARI SARAI

 

The Soufari Serai (Cavalry School) is located on the east side of the Castle, near the Turkish Library. Probably built during the 18th century. A complex of 4, rectangular, connected, two-story buildings, built mostly with stone.

 

 

 

The main building is on the south side. A separate building with smaller rooms stretched across the castle walls. Excavations revealed a Byzantine bath and a Turkish hamam. In need of repair.

 

 

 

 

Comments:
To be renovated in order to house the Historical Archives of the city of Ioannina. Today, it houses the Cavalry School.
