LITHARITSIA BASTION

 

Atop a hill, in the center of the city of Ioannina is the Litharitsia Bastion. Built by the Ali Pasa at the beginning of the 19th century, on the old fort of Voimoundos. Built as an outpost to protect the castle of Ioannina.

 

 

 

Accoding to historical sources, it housed 3 "seragia", 2 of which belonged to the Ali Pasa's son, Veli and Mouchtar, and the third, and most glamorous, to the Ali Pasa himself.
