 Town of the province and of the Prefecture of Arta, center of the community,famous from the same-name fight in 1822.The fight between Greeks and Turkeys was became on 4 July 1822 and terminated with the dismounting of the Greek forces.

In the battle took place 2.000 Greeks and volunteers Filellines and 8.000 Turkeys with the a leader named Kioutaxi.During the first phase of the fight the Greeks have reject the Turkeys.But After that the Turkeys send 80 people in the back side of the Greeks. The presence of those mans which were enemy,caused panic to the Greeks.It was followed general attack of Turkeys and literally destroyed the Greek forces.

Consequenses.The disaster of Peta had incalculable consequences for the Greek matter.Souli concluded a treaty and the Turkeys advanced without resistance and besieged the Mesologi.
