Village of fishermen, with natural port in the shape of horsesoe. New Oitylo is a port with a long beach, near Limeni. Oitylo or else Boitylo is built on the Position of the ancient city which Homer, the epic poet maker, reports. The excavations revealed architectural remains of a temple and mycenean slabs (kind of ceramic slabs; ancient people nicked words on them in order to vote) as well as traces of walls.
The churches of "Metamorphosi of Sotiras" and Agios Georgios. The well-preserved monastery of the Dekoules, of the 18th century, with wall paintings of this age, 1km southwards.
The ruins of the fortress of Kelepha, of the 17th century, dominates opposite Etylo. It was built on a hight, by the Turks as observatory of south Mani`s area (the same use has also the fortress of Passava). It has the shape of pentagon and it has six towers.
After passing Etylo, the road continues to Kalamata, passing through picturesque villages of West or Messenian Mani.
