A worth-seeing, old Manian town. Its characteristic towers are a really traditional treasure. It is 106km from Sparta and it has 307 inhabitants.

There are many towers which have been repaired and turned into hostelries by a group of architects of the E. O. T. (Greek Organization of Tourism)
The Manian villages Lania ,17km northwards, and Alika ,4km north-west. Between Alika and Batheia, there is the village of Kyparissos, where remains of the ancient city of Kainipolis of the Roman Times where found near the sea. The village`s churches were built with material from ancient buildings. Among the churches, this of Agia Paraskevi is considered that it is built on the position of the ancient temple of Venus and Panagia`s church on the position of Demeter`s temple.
