Small littoral village, 56km north-east of Bolos. In the last years a lot of people spent the summer there, because of the very clean sea waters and its beautiful beach. Here, George Drossinis inspired his poem named "Galeni"(=serenity).
Sights:
The old, small church of Agios Nicholas, built on the ruins of an ancient temple, with wall paintings. Its older repairings are dated in 1600.
The huge sea caves in the harborless area of Palia Mitzela, 1hour and 30min by sailboat. Here, a part of the navy of Xerxes was destroyed in BC 480. In the ancient times, Palia Mintzela -nowadays unihabited- was called Ipnoi. According to the mythology, somewhere here, Thetis -the most beautiful of the fifty Nereids- fell in love with Pileas.
