HOW TO GET THERE
Psara is a small island located in the northeast part of Chios. Its size is 42 square kilometers. The smaller distance from Chios is located between the Melanios cape of Chios and the Saint George cape of Psara, and is 9 miles. In order to view the location of Psara in the Greek map click here.
The port of Psara is 48 miles from the port of Chios and 85 from the port of Lavrio.
Because of the island's size and number of residents it doesn't have an airport. There is only a heliport, well equipped and contemporary, which is mainly used in cases of emergency by the National Centre of Immediate Help as well as for military purposes.
On the south island of Psara there is a leeward port, exactly where the town of Psara is located. Both the bay and the harbour facilities you can visit are capable of accommodating a satisfying number of tourists, ships and fishing boats.
The transports to and from the island are totally made through the sea. Psara is daily coresponded with Chios and with the port of Lavrio two days a week by sea. The transports to and from Chios are conducted by the boat "Panagia Psariani" and Lavrio by the boat "Island Limnos" of the Saos Ferries. More information about the timetables of the "Panagia Psariani" ferries is listed below:
