HEALTH CENTRE
The municipality of Psara owns a rural health centre; quite equipped to fulfil the medicine and nursing needs of the population and the visitors. It has two rural doctors and a nurse. It has the necessary equipment such as a cardiograph and a telemedicine system, connected to the "Sismanogleio" hospital. In addition through the "Home Help" program three nurses are at call to take care of older people and people who cannot be transferred.
The health centre is open for prescriptions and simple examinations every day from 10:00 up to 12:00. For emergency calls the personnel of the health centre is available 24 hours a day.
Of course, as in every small Greek island, the helicopters of the National Centre of Direct Help serve the emergencies that must be transferred to a hospital, and depending on the importance of the incidents, they are directly transferred to the hospital of Chios or to one of the hospitals in the mainland.
