AMPELAKIA AND THE CONSERVATION OF THE CULTURAL HERITAGE WITH THE CREATION OF THE FOLKLORE MUSEUM.

GENERAL
Ampelakia and its history always excite the greatest historians'(of the world) interest.

The co-operative of capital and work had as a result the creation of Amplelakia's co-operative and the great economic prosperity, from the transport of the red yarns to the biggest European markets.

The economic wealth led up to prosperity at the social and cultural life. So,Ampelakia reached to an important economic flourishing, whose indication is until today the remaining mansions.

CREATION OF FOLKLORE MUSEUM

A group o individuals, with developed localistic consciousness, with faith in the history of the history of this land, with the conviction that the preservation of the cultural heritage is an imposed duty and the the bad situation of the village and especially of the mansions is still reversible, constituted, years ago,an informal-at the beginning- folklore company.

This group, started to gather folklore elements, aiming at the collection and the conversation of tools, utensils and objects, that show the traditional way of agricultural-cattle raising production, the way of work at hoe and at the workrooms for the production of the red yarns, during the period of the union's fourishing.

So,various handicraft tools, parts of wall-painting's from mansions, household goods, articles of clothing, old photos and historical documents were gathered. All these were related with the work, the activities and the life of the historical community's inhabitants.

Robert Browing,a philhellene of the modern renounce, had said: 'We,should not forget or renounce our roots' and this order was followed faithfully by the prime movers of the folklore museum...

TEMPORARILY CREATION OF THE FOLKLORE MUSEUM

All these people, keeping in mind that Ampelakia constitute that Ampelakia constitute a bastion of the historical memory, made an ambitious but also effective effort, whose first fruits were the first exhibition of folklore material. It took place and was lodged temporarily in the building of KYDEP (ΚΥΔΕΠ).After this good start, the continuation was even better.

An association with the name 'Folklore and Historical Museum of Ampelakia' was founded. Its charter was authorized with the approbatory resolusion (number 75/1977) of the one-member Court of the First instance of Larissa.

All the objects ,that were collected from the beggining and later ,were eponymous offers from Ampelakia's natives and friends.

THE DONATION OF AN OLD MANSION
It was a lucky thing the fact that the newly-founded Folklore Association accepted the donation of an old mansion from a couple from Ampelakia.

The offer of Fani and her husband Xenophon was very important, because their mansion, after itsrestoration, lodged the 'Folklore and Historical Museum of Ampelakia'.

At ground floor and at the first floor all the objects are placed in such a way, that they constitute a subject of historical teaching and aesthetic pleasure for the visitor.

The excellent effort was crowed with absolute success. The ojects that have been gathered are too many, and are placed in 'subjects' in the Museum, and so the history is revealed to the observer.

The effort didn't stop,it still goes on,unstained. It is motivated by the people's thirst for the discovery of the magnificence that Ampelakia hide.

The target of the 'Folklore and Historical Museum of Ampelakia' was and still is the following:the collection of all the subsisting elements of the cultural heritage of the village.

These elements, being exhibited, will contribute to the knowledge and forging of the national consciousness, which is necessary for our beloved fatherland.

Congratulations and there's more of the same to come...
