The market

After passing the Propylaea we enter the big market that expands 155 meters in the West, 66 meters en the east and has a width 0f 99 meters. Before 4 BC the place was smaller than the one that exists nowadays and was formed during the Roman times. Initially the West section lied in a higher level than the central and the East one, but when the Romans came they expanded it and divided it into two sections, the North which was shorter and the South which lied higher and covered it with marble.
